Process basics
How long should a pre-screening round for this role take?
Ten to fifteen minutes across eight to ten questions, answered async alongside images of their work. Enough to test material knowledge, durability practice and safety before a studio visit.
What should I ask for besides the screen?
Pieces you can handle, ideally ones made more than a year ago. How these materials age is the single most useful thing to see, and photographs will not show it.
Evaluating answers
What is the strongest signal when screening this role?
What happened to a piece over time. Artisans with real practice describe warping, moisture uptake or degradation and how they adjusted the formulation. Anyone whose work never changed has not kept any.
What should worry me in an answer?
Food contact or compostability claimed without testing. Both are regulated claims in most markets, and asserting them without evidence creates a real problem when a customer relies on it.
