Process basics
How long should a pre-screening round for this role take?
Fifteen minutes across eight to ten questions, answered async. Enough to establish shipped work, test their hardware understanding, and check how they run user testing for haptics.
How much hardware knowledge should I expect?
Enough to know how actuator type and mounting change the result. A designer working only in software will produce effects that feel right on their prototype and wrong in production.

What is the strongest signal when screening this role?
What changed between two devices. Designers with production experience describe retuning for a different actuator. Anyone whose effects transferred unchanged has worked on one platform.
How do I judge their user testing?
Ask how they test something users cannot describe. Real answers use comparison and behaviour rather than asking for opinions. Anyone relying on verbal feedback will get very little from it.
