How much does regional experience matter?

A survival rate they can quote. Specialists who go back know what established and what did not. Anyone who reports trees planted has measured the intervention rather than the outcome.
How do I judge their commercial credibility?
Ask how the farmer was funded through establishment. Real answers cover grants, intercropping income or staged planting. Anyone who treats the establishment gap as the farmer's problem will not be listened to.
