What changes when you watch them work first

Watch The Work, Not The Resume

A claim on a resume says someone can do the thing. A screen recording shows them doing it: walking through a portfolio, demoing a tool, or working through a Figma file out loud.

No Scheduling, No Live Call

Candidates record on their own time and you review whenever you want. Move the screen share that used to happen in the third interview to the very first answer.

Searchable Transcripts And Time-Stamped Notes

Pause, replay, leave time-stamped comments and ratings, share with a teammate, or download. With AI transcripts on, scan what was said instead of scrubbing the whole recording.

How it works

Add a screen recording question and set the max length, retakes, and thinking time for the task you want to see

Candidates pick a screen or window, narrate through their microphone, and preview before submitting

Watch the recording inside the response with searchable transcript, time-stamped comments, ratings, and shareable links

Frequently asked questions about screen recording questions

Common questions about adding a screen recording step to your async prescreen and what candidates and reviewers see.

What is a screen recording interview question?
It is a question that asks a candidate to share their screen and talk through what they are doing while it records. It is asynchronous, so the candidate records on their own and you review the recording later, with no live call needed.
How do candidates record their screen?
They click to start recording, choose the screen or window to share, and narrate through their microphone. They can preview before submitting, and re-record if you have allowed retakes.
Can candidates record their screen on mobile?
No. Screen recording works on desktop and laptop browsers only. Phones and tablets are not supported, so let mobile-heavy applicant pools know to use a computer or include an alternative question type.
How is this different from a live video interview?
There is no scheduling and no meeting. The candidate records on their own time and you review whenever you want. You still see their full screen and hear their explanation, you just are not both online at the same time.
How long can a screen recording be?
You set the maximum duration per question. Most walkthroughs fit in five to ten minutes. For complex tasks you can allow up to fifteen or twenty, though longer recordings take longer to review.
Can I get a transcript of the screen recording?
Yes, if AI transcripts are enabled for the job. The recording comes with a searchable transcript so you can scan what was said.
Can candidates re-record?
Yes, if you allow retakes on the question. You can also turn retakes off for a more spontaneous response. Retakes and thinking time cannot be used together on the same question.
What roles is screen recording best for?
Any role where seeing the work beats hearing about it. Developers demonstrating an approach, designers walking through a portfolio, analysts presenting a model, or support and sales reps showing how they handle a task on screen.
