How long should a marine engineer pre-screen take?

Anything deeper, including plant walkthroughs and calculations, belongs with the chief engineer or superintendent.

Candidates who only describe watchkeeping routines, or who never name a decision they signed off on, were likely supervised throughout.
What answers should disqualify a marine engineer at the screening stage?
Disqualify anyone who describes bypassing safety devices, falsifying oil record book or MARPOL entries, or sailing with a known defect undeclared to class.
