Chasing a shortlisted candidate for two referee phone numbers can hold up an offer by a week. Add a References question and candidates enter each referee's name, email, phone, and relationship when they apply.
Start Collecting ReferencesReferences is one of the standard response types. Name is always required. Set every other field to required, optional, or hidden for each question.
First and last name. Always required.
Checked for a valid address before the candidate can submit.
Validated as a real number, so a missing digit gets fixed by the candidate.
Where they worked with the candidate. Optional unless you require it.
Supervisor, co-worker, mentor, client, or other with a short description.
The referee list arrives with the video answers. When the hiring manager says yes on Friday, you already have the supervisor's number and can call before the weekend.
Email and phone are validated before the application goes through. A referee listed at gmail.con or with a nine-digit mobile number gets corrected by the candidate, not discovered by you mid-dial.
Each reference comes through as name, relationship, company, email, and phone in the CSV export, the webhook payload, and the PDF application report, so nobody retypes a phone number.
Open the Questions step of your job, click Add questions under Standard Responses, and pick References as the response type
