8 HireVue Alternatives, Ranked by Published Price

The lowest-priced HireVue alternative is Hirevire at $468 a year, with a 7-day free trial and no credit card. That pays for one open job and 300 recorded interviews a year, which is about 25 candidates a month. HireVue publishes no price, and Capterra lists its starting price at $35,000. An enterprise that needs assessments with its interviews should ask VidCruiter or Jobma for a quote. Five of the eight tools here publish a price, and those five are ranked by price, lowest first.
How this list was built: these are eight interview tools a HireVue customer could move to. Prices come from each vendor's pricing page and ratings from G2, both checked in October 2026.
Research: 38% of job seekers have walked away from a hiring process because it included an AI interview, in a Greenhouse survey of 2,950 people.

What is HireVue, and what does it cost today?
HireVue is an enterprise hiring platform, founded in 2004. It sells on-demand and live video interviews, assessments, game-based tests, an AI interviewer and interview scheduling. HireVue says it has hosted more than 70 million interviews.
HireVue publishes no price. Its pricing page has no plans and one button, "Request Demo". Capterra lists a starting price of $35,000 and does not say what that covers, so treat $35,000 a year as the least a HireVue contract would cost.
HireVue bought Modern Hire in 2023, and G2 reviews from former Modern Hire users now describe the HireVue platform.
Why do teams look for a HireVue alternative?
Teams look for a HireVue alternative for three reasons.
- There is no public price. A budget conversation cannot start without a sales call, and the one listed figure is $35,000.
- It is built for enterprise volume. A team hiring 15 people a year pays for assessments, game-based tests and interview guides it will not use.
- Former Modern Hire customers arrived on HireVue through the 2023 acquisition. A renewal is a natural point to compare options.
What do HireVue users complain about?
Four complaints come up in recent reviews on G2, where HireVue is rated 4.1 out of 5 from 255 reviews.
- One-way interviews can feel impersonal to candidates, and some struggle without a person to react to.
- Scheduling is rigid. Reviewers want candidates to be able to reschedule themselves, and want breaks between back-to-back interviews.
- There is no link to share one recorded interview with a hiring manager, according to one reviewer.
- The ATS integration did not pull resumes across automatically for one reviewer.
How do the alternatives solve these problems?
Each problem has a tool that removes it.
| Problem with HireVue | What to look for | Tools that have it |
|---|---|---|
| No public price | A price on the website | Hirevire, Willo, Hireflix, Interviewer.AI, Spark Hire |
| Built and priced for enterprise volume | A plan sized for a small team | Hirevire (from 1 job and 25 interviews a month), Hireflix, Willo Lite |
| One-way interviews feel impersonal | An intro video from the hiring manager, and follow-up questions | Hirevire (intro videos and follow-up questions on every plan) |
| No link to share one interview | Shareable review links | Hirevire (Professional and Agency plans) |
| No trial before a contract | A free trial | Hirevire (7 days), Hireflix (first month), Interviewer.AI (14 days) |
What does each tool cost over a year?
Hirevire costs the least, at $468 a year. Every priced tool here costs less than a tenth of HireVue's listed starting price.
| Tool | Yearly cost | Saved against $35,000 | What the price includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hirevire Essentials | $468 | $34,532 (99%) | 1 open job, 300 interviews a year |
| Willo Lite | $708 | $34,292 (98%) | 1 live role all year, 150 assessed candidates |
| Hireflix Small | $900 | $34,100 (97%) | Unlimited positions, for companies under 50 employees |
| Hirevire Professional | $1,188 | $33,812 (97%) | 5 open jobs, 1,200 interviews a year |
| Hirevire Agency | $2,388 | $32,612 (93%) | 20 open jobs, 12,000 interviews a year |
| Interviewer.AI Essential | $2,388 | $32,612 (93%) | 50 interview credits a month |
| Spark Hire | $2,988 | $32,012 (91%) | Unlimited jobs, users and interviews |

Each of these does a smaller job than HireVue. The saving only counts if a recorded screen is the job you need done.
1. Hirevire
Hirevire is async screening software: you write the questions once, and candidates record video, audio or text answers in their own time. They answer in the browser with no account or password. A question set takes minutes to build, and there is no limit on the number of questions.
Every plan includes AI transcripts in 90+ languages and AI scorecards that show the reasoning behind each score. Candidates who miss a must-have requirement can be filtered out before they record, and those responses do not count against your quota. You can ask a follow-up question after watching an answer, without booking a call.

How do you switch from HireVue to Hirevire?
Switching takes four steps.
- Check when your HireVue contract ends, and copy the questions from your on-demand interviews.
- Create the same job in Hirevire and add those questions. A question set takes minutes to build, and each question can ask for video, audio, text, a file or a screen recording.
- Share the new link with candidates. They record in the browser, with no account and no password. For a list of people already in your pipeline, upload a CSV and Hirevire sends the invites, with automatic reminders.
- Connect the tools you already use. Zapier, Make, Pabbly Connect, Ashby, Tellent Recruitee and Manatal work on every plan, so the rest of your stack stays as it is.
A team that uses HireVue's assessments can keep its assessment tool and pass candidates between the two with Zapier or Make.
Applicants from Indeed, Naukri, Monster, Shine.com, foundit and ZipRecruiter get your video interview invite when you add your Hirevire link to the posting or forward their application email. For a question about your own setup, write to [email protected].
What should you check before leaving HireVue?
Check five things before you move.
- Which HireVue products you use. A team that only runs on-demand interviews can move to any tool here. A team that relies on assessments or game-based tests should look at VidCruiter or Jobma.
- When your contract renews. Enterprise contracts usually run for a year or more.
- How many candidates you screen each month. Hirevire covers 25, 100 or 1,000 interviews a month depending on the plan. Hireflix and Spark Hire are unlimited.
- Which systems must stay connected. List your ATS and automation tools, then check each alternative's plan for them.
- Whether you want an AI score. Hirevire, Interviewer.AI, VidCruiter and Jobma score answers with AI.
When is HireVue still the right choice?
HireVue is still the right choice in four cases.
- You screen thousands of candidates in a season, such as a graduate intake at a bank.
- You need assessments, game-based tests or virtual job tryouts alongside the interview.
- You want more than 1,000 job-specific interview guides maintained by psychologists.
- You need 24/7 support in more than 20 languages.
Should you stay with HireVue, switch, or pick another tool?
| Your situation | Use | Why |
