Why multilingual recruitment is not optional
A candidate landing on an interface with buttons in a language they are not fluent in does not give you a fair signal. They get nervous, they second-guess clicks, they bounce before recording. You lose qualified people for reasons that have nothing to do with the job.
Translating the candidate experience is not a polish feature. It is the difference between getting honest answers and getting whoever can navigate your tool.
The numbers behind multilingual hiring
Independent research keeps landing in the same place: candidates engage more in their native language, drop off in long English-only flows, and async video saves the recruiter most of the live-interview time.
of candidates abandon applications that require a one-way video interview as the first screening step.
Aptitude Research, 2025Applications under 5 minutes see 12.47% completion vs 3.61% for those over 15 minutes.
Appcast, 2025 (379M job ad clicks)A 30-minute live interview becomes a roughly 3-minute viewing session with pre-recorded video.

The other side of the conversation
Every answer becomes searchable text
Hirevire auto-transcribes every video and audio response in the language the candidate spoke. Across 90+ languages, so a recruiter hiring across markets gets a usable text record of every interview, not just a stack of videos to wade through.
Skim before you watch. Search across candidates. Share the text with a hiring manager who would rather read than press play. The video is still there when you need to see body language and tone, but the transcript carries the weight of the screen.
- Auto-transcribedEvery recorded answer gets a transcript the moment the candidate submits. No setup, no manual step.
- 90+ languagesThe transcript is generated in the same language the candidate spoke. From Arabic to Vietnamese, the engine recognises and transcribes across 90+ spoken languages.
- Every paid planTranscripts are included on every paid plan. No per-minute charges, no separate add-on, no setup call.
AI Reviews work across languages
Once a candidate response is transcribed, Hirevire runs your scorecard rubric against the transcript. The AI Review surfaces candidate strengths, gaps against your criteria, and a recommended next step. This works whether your candidate spoke English, Japanese, Spanish, or Arabic. This is the AI multilingual recruitment process in one sentence: one rubric, every language, English summaries for the recruiter.
Set the Transcription Language in your job's AI settings to match how your candidates will respond, and you get the same depth of review across every language you hire in.
- Same rubric, every languageDefine your scorecard once. Hirevire applies it consistently across candidates regardless of response language. No separate setup for each market.
- Recruiter gets English summariesThe candidate responds in their language. The recruiter reads the AI summary in English. You bridge the language gap without manually translating every response.
- Included on every paid planAI Reviews on multilingual responses are part of the standard product. No premium tier, no per-language fee.
Three ways to set the language
Set it in your job settings
When creating a job, pick your target language from the language dropdown. Every candidate who opens that job sees the experience in that language, regardless of how they arrived.
Use a URL parameter
Add ?lang=<code> (e.g. ?lang=ja for Japanese, ?lang=es for Spanish) to any application URL. Useful when sharing the same job in multiple languages, or when sourcing candidates through region-specific channels.
Let candidates choose
If you do not set a language, candidates can toggle it themselves from the language picker in the application page footer. Hirevire also auto-detects the candidate browser locale and serves the matching language by default.
