Set transcription language for accurate AI transcripts
When candidates submit video or audio responses, Hirevire automatically generates transcripts using AI. Setting the correct transcription language improves accuracy, especially for interviews conducted in languages other than English.
How transcription language works
By default, Hirevire uses Auto detect to identify the spoken language in video and audio responses. While Auto detect works well for clear audio in common languages, selecting a specific language produces more accurate transcripts when you know the interview language in advance.
For highest accuracy, set the transcription language to the language candidates will use in their responses. This is especially important for languages with regional variations or less common languages in the supported list.

When to use Auto detect vs. a specific language
Use a specific language when
Candidates will respond in a single, known language (e.g., Arabic for Arabic-speaking roles)
Accuracy is critical for candidate evaluation or compliance
You're hiring for roles in specific regions where one language dominates
You're using AI reviews or AI scorecards to evaluate candidates
Use Auto detect when
Candidates may respond in different languages for the same job
You're unsure of the primary interview language
The job is open to multilingual candidates
Supported transcription languages
Hirevire supports AI transcripts in over 90 languages, including:
Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Spanish, Armenian,
Tagalog (Filipino), Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Welsh
And many more regional and international languages
For the complete list of application languages and locale codes, see Supported application languages and locale codes.
Transcription language is separate from candidate-facing application language. The application language controls what candidates see on the application form, while transcription language controls how AI processes their spoken responses.
How this affects plan limits
On current plans (Essentials, Professional, Agency), AI transcripts are included at no extra cost. On legacy plans (One Job, Startup, Growth), each video or audio response consumes one AI credit.
For full details on AI credits and plan limits, see AI Credit Consumption for Candidate Responses.
