How to use Followups for candidate screening

Followups let you send additional questions to candidates after they've completed their initial application. This is useful for digging deeper with top candidates or clarifying specific responses without scheduling a live call.

Followups are available on all plans. Candidates receive a link to answer your additional questions, and their responses appear alongside their original application.

Send a followup to a candidate

  1. Open the candidate's application from your job's response list

  2. Look for the Followup or Send Followup button at the bottom of the application

  3. Add your questions—you can include video, audio, text, or other question types just like when creating a job

  4. Send the followup via email notification or copy the link to share manually

The candidate receives a link to a page with your new questions. They can respond on any device without logging in, just like the original application.

Review followup responses

Once a candidate completes your followup questions, their new responses appear on their application page alongside their original answers. You can rate, share, and collaborate on followup responses the same way you do with initial applications.

Use followups to test specific skills with top candidates or ask for clarification on interesting responses—it's faster than scheduling another interview round.

Question types in followups

Followups support the same media responses as your job posts:

  • Video responses

  • Audio responses

  • Screen share recordings

  • Text answers

  • File uploads

You can also include recorded videos in your followup questions to provide context or demonstrate what you're asking for.
