If the interview page opens but your camera or microphone won't work, you likely need to grant permission in your browser. See how to enable camera and microphone access for step-by-step instructions.
What to do if your interview link isn't working
If your interview link won't open, shows a 404 error, or you're not sure what to click, follow this guide to get back on track.
Start here
What happens when you click your interview link?
Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
Page shows a 404 or "not found" error | Ask the company for a new link |
Page won't load or shows other error | Try a different browser or device, or check the link for typos |
Link says it's expired or no longer valid | Contact the recruiter for a fresh link |
See both "Resume" and "Start New" buttons | Click Resume to continue your existing application |
Already submitted but need to change something | Contact the recruiter—they can reset your application |
Page won't load or shows an error
If the page doesn't open or you see an error message:
Check the link for typos. If the link was sent via email, copy the entire URL carefully. Make sure there are no extra spaces or missing characters at the end.
Try a different browser. Chrome and Safari work best. If the link fails in one browser, paste it into another.
Try your phone. Open the link in Chrome or Safari on your mobile device. The interview is designed to work on phones and tablets.
Check your internet connection. Make sure you're online, then refresh the page.
If none of these work, contact the recruiter using the email address from the job posting or invitation.
Link says it's expired or no longer valid
If the page tells you the link has expired or is no longer valid, you'll need a fresh link from the recruiter. The link may have been disabled, or the job posting may have closed.
What to do:
Reply to the original invitation email and ask for an updated link
Or contact the recruiter directly using the email from the job posting
Include the name of the position and explain that the interview link shows as expired or invalid.
Page shows a 404 or "not found" error
If you see a 404 page or a "page not found" message, the interview link is broken. This usually means:
The link was mistyped or copied incorrectly
The link has been disabled by the company
The job posting has been closed
Contact the company and ask for a new link. Reply to the invitation email or reach out using the contact information from the job posting. Let them know the link returns a 404 error and you need an updated interview link.
Confused by Resume and Start New buttons
When you return to an interview you've already started, you may see two buttons:
Resume — continues your existing application where you left off
Start New — begins a fresh application and discards your previous progress
Click Resume to keep your recorded responses and finish the remaining questions.
If you clicked Start New by mistake and want your previous progress back, contact the recruiter. They can send you the correct in-progress application link.
Your progress is saved automatically. If you close the browser or lose connection, you can return to the same link and resume where you stopped—just make sure you click Resume, not Start New.
Already submitted but need to make changes
Once you click Submit, your application is final. You cannot re-record or edit any responses after submission.
If you need to submit a correction or new response:
Contact the recruiter directly using the email from the invitation or job posting
Explain what you need to change
The recruiter can reset your application link, which lets you record new responses. This is entirely up to the employer—some may allow it, others may not.
Other common issues
Your camera or microphone isn't working
You ran out of time during a question
Some questions have a thinking time countdown. When the timer runs out, recording starts automatically and cannot be restarted. If this happened to you, finish the rest of your application and submit it. Then contact the recruiter to explain what occurred.
Learn more about how thinking time and retakes work.
You want to redo a recorded response
If retakes are allowed, you'll see a Retake button after recording each response. If the button says retakes are disabled, the employer has turned them off for that question.
For more details, see candidate recording troubleshooting.
Need to contact the recruiter?
If you've tried the steps above and still can't access your interview, reach out to the recruiter directly. Use the email address from:
The original invitation email
The job posting where you found the interview link
Include:
The position you applied for
What happens when you click the link (exact error message if there is one)
What device and browser you're using
The recruiter can resend your link, reset your application, or suggest an alternative way to submit your response.
