Change the owner of your account
Updated last week
There is no separate ownership-transfer step. To change who owns your account, change the account's login email β the account moves to that email and that person becomes the new owner. You don't need to invite them as a user first.
Before you start
You need access to the new owner's email inbox, or the verification code from them, to finish the change. The new owner must be ready to sign in, because the account switches over the moment you enter the code.
Transfer ownership
These steps move the account to the new owner's email.
Open My account and stay on the Profile details tab.
Click Edit next to the read-only Email field.
Enter the new owner's email address in the New Email field and click Request Verification Code.
Get the 6-digit code from the new inbox β ask the new owner for it, or check that inbox yourself.
Enter the code in the Verification Code field and click Verify Email.
What happens after
Once you enter the code, the account switches over right away. Your current login stops working at that point, so the new owner needs to be ready to sign in with their email.
The account itself moves to the new email, making that person the owner. No invite is involved, so you don't assign an Admin or Billing Admin role during the transfer.
If you want to keep ownership and only give someone access to jobs or billing instead, invite them as a team member with the Admin or Billing Admin role.
Verification details
The verification code expires in 24 hours. For the full list of verification error messages and how to cancel a change before it completes, see How to Update Your Email Address.
