How to embed audio in candidate instructions
Embed recorded or uploaded audio in the optional candidate instructions field so applicants can play it on the job application form.
Open the instructions editor
Create a new job or open an existing job and click Edit.
On the Basic details step, find Add instructions for candidates (optional).
Place the cursor in the instructions editor where you want the audio to appear.
Record or upload audio
In the editor toolbar, click Embed audio.
Choose how to add audio:
Record: Allow microphone access if prompted, then tap the mic (Start recording). The timer shows elapsed time against a five-minute maximum (for example,
00:00 / 05:00). Tap the mic again (Stop recording) when you finish. Recording stops automatically at five minutes.Upload: Choose Upload an audio file and select an audio file.
When the dialog title changes to Preview audio, play the clip to confirm it.
Click Embed audio to insert a controllable audio player into the instructions, or Discard to clear the clip and start over. Before preview, use Cancel to close without inserting audio.
Save the job with Save or Save and preview.
The five-minute maximum applies to browser microphone recordings only. If microphone access fails, Hirevire shows an error that it could not access the microphone. If embedding fails after preview, try again when you see that the audio could not be embedded.
What candidates see
Candidates can play embedded audio with standard playback controls on the public application form.
To add audio inside a media question’s help text instead, see Add more details to each question.
