Transfer an in-progress interview to another device (QR/link)
Updated 3 weeks ago
You can continue an in-progress application on another device at any time. Open the Continue on Another Device panel, scan the QR code or copy the application link, then open that link on the other device and click Resume. The link is the same one that identifies your application, so you don't need to enter your email again.
Before you switch devices
Answers you have already completed are saved on our servers and will load on the new device. A recording still in progress is not saved: video, audio, and screen recordings stay in your current browser until you stop recording and the upload finishes.
Stop any active recording and wait for the upload to complete before switching devices. You'll see "Uploading the video..." while a video or screen recording uploads, and "Uploading files..." for audio.
Move to another device
Open your in-progress application on the device you're using now. The QR option is available on every application screen until you submit.
Click the QR icon button to open the Continue on Another Device panel. On the screen where you can resume an unfinished application, Having trouble? opens the same panel.
In the panel, do one of the following:
Scan the QR code with the camera of the other device.
Share link to send the link through your device's share options.
Copy Link to copy the link to your clipboard. The button shows Copied when it's done.
Open the link on the other device in Chrome or Safari.
If the page shows both Resume and Start New, click Resume. This continues your existing application. Start New creates a fresh one and leaves your previous progress behind.
The new device loads your saved answers and takes you to the next question you haven't completed. If the new device will record video or audio, allow camera and microphone access when asked: see How to enable camera and microphone access.
What transfers and what doesn't
Answer text you've already completed is saved as you go and appears on the new device.
Recordings you finished and uploaded are saved and appear on the new device.
A recording in progress, or an upload that hasn't finished, doesn't transfer. That question stays unanswered, so record that response on the new device.
The transfer itself works by QR code, sharing, or copying the link. There's no option to send the link by email or SMS from the panel.
If the link doesn't open on the new device
Paste the link exactly as you copied it, with no extra spaces or missing characters. If the page shows the "This interview link isn't working" message, follow the steps in What to do if your interview link isn't working.
If a recording fails after you switch, see Candidate recording troubleshooting.
